Who we are

The Altitude Balloon Company Ltd. is a family-run business operating hot air balloons for passenger rides and advertising in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and the wider region. We are part of The European Balloon Company Group, based in Great Missenden. We offer fantastic experiences for those wanting a personalised experience of lighter than air flight. Our main pilot took his first balloon flight 18 years ago, and has been flying balloons in earnest for 4 years.

We are based in Thame, Oxfordshire, and often fly in the area just to the east of Oxford.

Our Business Approach

Our aim is to offer the best possible service in an ethical way. We believe that relationships are more important than profit. We aim to minimise the environmental impact of our company by using environmentally friendly fuel wherever possible, by minimising waste, and by recycling as far as possible: we believe we are the UK’s first ever – and only - carbon-neutral hot air balloon company. Our pilot worked overseas for many years for Oxfam and the International Red Cross and to continue this connection we aim to donate 5% of our profits to local and international charities.

Our promise to you

You will fly with an experienced and fully qualified pilot. You will fly in a balloon that is regularly checked and maintained and that has a Certificate of Airworthiness issued by a qualified aircraft inspector. You will be insured. And, while we can't absolutely promise this, we can make a very well-educated guess that you will leave the basket with a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
