Winter Ballooning - what we do in the winter
You may think that balloonists hibernate in the winter when the weather is too bad to go flying and the ground is wet and muddy.
Well here is what we really do!
We pack up our balloons and put them away in the dry ready for next year and then jump on a plane to Sri Lanka, that wonderful tropical island off the coast of India. There we have set up another balloon company with the help of a wonderful Sri Lankan lady.
Our new company ‘Sun Rise in Lanka Ballooning’ offers flights over jungle and lakes in the interior of the country known as the ‘Cultural Triangle’ where there are many relics of a bygone age when ancient kings ruled and their subjects built amazing temples and palaces and constructed enormous reservoirs called tanks.
Our guests may stay in 5 star luxury or choose more modest local accommodation but they will come together to experience a dawn flight perhaps out over the adjoining tank and then over the jungle to catch a glimpse of wild elephants or water buffalo and watch the monkeys leaping from tree to tree.
Our pilots will navigate the balloon to a suitable clearing where you will be welcomed by smiling villagers ready to help pack the balloon away. After a glass of champagne to toast the successful flight you will be whisked back to your hotel for breakfast and a swim before starting off on a sight seeing tour.
If you fancy experiencing the magic of Sri Lanka from the air you can book with us or contact www.srilankaballooning.com direct.
